A family-owned-and-operated business, Shields Health Care Group provides MRI, PET/CT, Radiation Oncology and Ambulatory Surgical Center services at more than 30 locations across New England. As an ambulatory surgery center, The Surgery Center was constructed in partnership between UMass Memorial Health Care, Shields Health Care Group and Reliant Medical Group. The facility is meant for day-surgery patients able to recover at home.

The 35,000-square-foot center will have 70 staff members and nine operating rooms to serve what is expected to be 10,000 patients per year by 2020.

Knight Wall Systems’ CI® System and HCI™ System rainscreen attachment systems were selected by the architect because both are complete, engineered systems that can be used behind multiple cladding types. The architect also liked that both are developed for use with rigid insulation, allowing for ease of installation and maximum thermal effectiveness.
